The Shoah Memorial enters the Higher Council of Archives

On Tuesday 3 May 2016, the Minister of Culture, Audrey Azoulay, installed the new Higher Council of Archives, chaired by Mr. Jean-Louis Debré. Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial, was among the guests.

Before a Council renewed by the appointment of new members, the Minister unveiled the policy she wishes to pursue for the public archives services. Audrey Azoulay wishes to give priority to the issue of archiving digital data, to the knowledge of archives by the general public as well as to the promotion of the "peace of memory".

This Council also welcomes for the first time representatives of other major heritage institutions: I want to thank for their presence, the new president of the BNF, Laurence Engel and the deputy director of the INA collections, Agnès Magnien (...) Foundations and associations whose action contributes to the knowledge of our history are also represented or invited, such as the Shoah Memorial: I thank Jacques Fredj for his presence among us.
