New: inter-museum tour with La maison Rouge on the occasion of the exhibition Ceija Stojka, a Roma artist in the century

On the occasion of the exhibition Ceija Stojka, une artiste rom dans le siècle presented from 23 February to 20 May 2018 at La maison rouge, two crossed paths between La maison Rouge and the Memorial are offered to students aged 10 to 18 on the history and culture of Gypsies in France and Austria. This exhibition will be one of the last of La maison Rouge which will close its doors in October 2018, an event not to be missed!

FIRST COURSE: CEIJA STOJKA, MATÉO MAXIMOFF, L’ART FOR MEMORY

Through the words of the French writer Matéo Maximoff at the Shoah Memorial, and the works of the Austrian painter Ceija Stojka at the Red House, the students (from CM2 to 4th ) set out to meet two great Roma artists.

  • 1st session: "Matéo’s words" workshop at the Shoah Memorial.
  • 2nd session: exhibition Ceija Stojka, a Roma artist in the century at La maison rouge.

SECOND JOURNEY: CEIJA STOJKA, A CHILD IN THE CAMPS

This course aims to address the specificities of genocide of the Gypsies in Europe during the Second World War for students of the 3th in Terminale. To better understand the experience reflected in the works of Ceija Stojka, students study the forms of the deportation of the Roma from Austria and Germany and the internment of "nomads" in France, from 1939 to 1946.
