Mathieu Amalric reads «La Trêve» by Primo Levi for the European Night of Museums

Saturday, May 17, on the occasion of the European Night of Museums 2025, the Shoah Memorial offered an exceptional reading of «La Trêve» by Primo Levi read by Mathieu Amalric, comedian.

If it is a man, de Primo Levi is a classic of the concentrationary literature on his months spent at Monowitz-Buna, a camp belonging to the vast complex of Auschwitz.  The Truce is the account of his return. The camp was liberated by the Russian army on 27 January 1945, but Primo Levi did not return to Turin until 19 October 1945. Between these two dates, the author takes us on an odyssey through an exsanguinated and disorganized Europe but where life seeks to resume. Accompanied by his Italian comrades, he crosses Poland, the USSR, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany...
