Mathieu Amalric reads "The Truce" by Primo Levi for the European Night of Museums

On Saturday 17 May, on the occasion of the European Night of Museums 2025, the Shoah Memorial offered an exceptional reading of "The Truce" by Primo Levi read by Mathieu Amalric, actor.

Si c'est un homme, by Primo Levi is a classic in the concentration camp literature about his months spent at Monowitz-Buna, a camp belonging to the vast Auschwitz complex.  The Truce is the account of his return. The camp was liberated by the Russian army on 27 January 1945, but Primo Levi did not return to his home in Turin until 19 October 1945. Between these two dates, the author takes us on an odyssey through a bloodless and disorganized Europe where life is trying to resume. Accompanied by his Italian comrades, he crossed Poland, the USSR, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany...
