Participation of the classes in ceremonies for reading the names of deportees
In association with the Sons and Daughters of the Jewish deportees from France and the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah, the Shoah Memorial commemorates the departure of each of the deportation convoys of the Jews from France.
In 2018 and 2019, the 75th anniversary of the departure of the convoys from the years 1943 and 1944, students can participate in these ceremonies as a continuation of educational work carried out in class.
During these ceremonies, one by one, the names of the Jews deported from France by convoy in 1943 and 1944 are pronounced. Former deportees, parents, volunteers, etc. take turns to read the names of "those whose only name remains" (Simone Veil) from the lists in the Serge Klarsfeld Deportation Memorial Book (Association des FFDJF).
This year, for the first time, the Shoah Memorial offers classes the opportunity to read the names of deportees during these ceremonies.
Location: Parvis du Mémorial de la Shoah – 17, rue Geoffroy l'Asnier 75004 Paris.
