Since 2003, the City of Grenoble and the CRIF have awarded the Louis Blum prize to a person "who has distinguished himself by his commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust, defending human rights and fighting racism and anti-Semitism".
This year, the Louis Blum Prize was awarded to the Mémorial de la Shoah, which thus succeeds the French Committee for Yad Vashem in 2017.
After an interview with Eric Piolle, mayor of the city of Grenoble, at the Jewish cultural center, Eric de Rothschild participated in the deposition of a common wreath with the city of Grenoble at 42, rue Bizanet where the CDJC was created.
The guests then attended the screening of a documentary film on the Shoah Memorial, followed by an address by the mayor of Grenoble, then byYvesGan>, president of the CRIF Grenoble-Dauphiné. Eric Piolle then handed over the Great Gold Medal of the city of Grenoble at the Shoah Memorial, which then received the Louis Blum Award from the hands of Madam Gaby Blum.
Following an address by the President of the Shoah Memorial, a tribute was paid to Simone Veil.
Today, the Shoah Memorial has made agreements in 15 countries to train teachers, it has "opened up" itself to other genocides of the 20th century (the Herero and Nama, the Armenians and the Tutsi in Rwanda) and continues to collect archival documents.
