Ernest and Claire Heilbronn Foundation Awards Ceremony

Great moment of emotion and sharing this Tuesday, March 10 at the Shoah Memorial on the occasion of the award ceremony of the Ernest and Claire Heilbronn Foundation. This date marks the 76th anniversary of the murder at Auschwitz-Birkenau of Ernest and Claire Heilbronn and their daughter, Marcelle Chevalier.

Created in April 2018 by the descendants of Ernest and Claire Heilbronn from the compensation of the Commission for the Compensation of Victims of Spoliations resulting from the antisemitic legislation in force during the Occupation (CIVS) and endowments of the descendants of Jacques Heilbronn, this foundation is under the aegis of the Shoah Memorial. Recognized as a public utility, its purpose is to reward those who, through their work and research, contribute to the history of Jews in France, education against racism and antisemitism, and the history of the Second World War in France.

Four awards are given each year.

For this second edition, the jury and the founding members of the Ernest and Claire Heilbronn Foundation unanimously awarded:

Two prizes, for two doctoral scholarships on the history of the Jews in France:

To Emmanuelle Polack for her thesis on: The paradigm of the art market in Paris under the 1940-1945 Occupation.

To Alexandre Doulut for his thesis on: The Shoah in France. Change of scale.

The Education Prize against racism and antisemitism to Anne Anglès, associate professor of history, his colleagues, and his second-year class from the Lycée Victor Duruy in Paris for their project Nos Eurydices and their research on the fate of seven high school girls from Victor Duruy deported and murdered for the simple fact of being Jewish.
