Training seminar for Latvian teachers

The Shoah Memorial and the Ministry of Education of Latvia organized from 4 to 6 July 2017 at the House of Europe in Riga a training seminar for 50 teachers. Bringing together local experts and French historians, these three study days, mainly focused on local issues, also addressed the pedagogical challenges related to the teaching of the Holocaust.

The Ambassador of Germany, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of France, Odile Soupison, opened the work before receiving the interns in the premises of the French representation.   This action was supported by the Claims Conference. All the participants attended the commemorations at the sites of Bikinierki and the old synagogue where Simone Veil gave a speech during these same ceremonies on 4 July 2006.
