Training seminar for Latvian teachers

The Shoah Memorial and the Ministry of Education of Latvia organized a training seminar for 50 teachers from 4 to 6 July 2017 at the Maison de l'Europe in Riga. Bringing together local experts and French historians, these three days of study, mainly focused on local issues, also addressed the pedagogical challenges related to the teaching of the Shoah.

The Ambassador of Germany, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ambassador of France, Odile Soupison, opened the work before receiving the trainees in the premises of the French representation.   This action was supported by the Claims conference. All the participants attended the commemorations at the sites of Bikinierki and the ancient synagogue where Simone Veil delivered a remarkable speech during these same ceremonies on July 4, 2006.
