Seminar for history teachers in Dakar

The Shoah Memorial and the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Etranger organized a seminar in Dakar (Senegal) for all history teachers from West Africa teaching in the French system (photo 3). These AEFE schools welcome on average 60% of foreign students, but the proportion is even higher in this region. The presentations focused on the curriculum dealing with the Holocaust and genocide. At the end of these two days of training, Hélène Dumas and Pascal Zachary led a workshop for first-grade students on authentic documents from the genocide of the Tutsi (photos 2 and 3). In addition, Joël Kotek debated with high school students (photo 4) on the legal and historical concepts related to genocides.
