Seminars for teachers in Belgrade and Skopje

The Shoah Memorial organized two training seminars for teachers in Belgrade (Serbia) and then in Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) in October 2016.

  • The first seminar, organized in partnership with the German Foreign Ministry, took place in Belgrade from 3 to 6 October 2016 on the theme "The Balkans, the Holocaust and mass violence during the Second World War". Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian and Bosnian history teachers attended the seminar which was held in the presence of Mr. Bruno Boyer, Director of International Relations at the Shoah Memorial, and Ms. Gordana Predic, State Secretary at the Serbian Ministry of Education, of Science and Technological Development, by Mrs. Christine Moro, Ambassador of France in Serbia, by Mrs. Sabine Brendel, Counsellor at the German Embassy in Serbia, and by Mr. Ruben FUKS, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia.

  • The second seminar, organized in partnership with the German Foreign Ministry, the Holocaust Memorial of the Jews of Macedonia and the Claims, took place in Skopje from 24 to 26 October 2016 on the theme "The Holocaust: Paradigm or starting point?". The teachers who attended this seminar, opened by the French ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Christian Thimonier, were able to address the theme of mass violence in the Balkans.
