Seminars for teachers in Belgrade and Skopje

The Shoah Memorial held two teacher training seminars in Belgrade (Serbia) and Skopje (Republic of Macedonia) in October 2016.

  • The first seminar, organised in partnership with the German Foreign Ministry, took place in Belgrade from 3 to 6 October 2016 on the theme «The Balkans, the Holocaust and mass violence during the Second World War». Serbian, Croatian, Macedonian and Bosnian history professors attended the seminar, which was held in the presence of Mr. Bruno Boyer, Director of International Relations at the Shoah Memorial, and Mrs. Gordana Predic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education of Serbia, of Science and Technological Development, Christine Moro, French Ambassador to Serbia, Sabine Brendel, Counsellor at the German Embassy in Serbia, and Ruben FUKS, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia.

  • The second seminar, organized in partnership with the German Foreign Ministry, the Holocaust Memorial for Macedonian Jews and the Claims, took place in Skopje from 24 to 26 October 2016 on the theme “The Holocaust: Paradigm or Starting Point”. The teachers who attended this seminar opened by the Ambassador of France in the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Christian Thimonier were able to address the issue of mass violence in the Balkans.
