Serbia: Memorial co-organizes training for 40 teachers

From 20 to 23 September 2017, the Shoah Memorial and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia held a training session focusing on mass atrocities in the Balkans in Nis in southern Serbia for 40 teachers.

The participants were able to visit the Crveni Krst internment camp. The program mainly involved local historians. Christophe Tarricone spoke about the use of still images in the classroom and the historical European context of the Holocaust. The Memorial is already well underway in this key Western Balkan country: initial training at the University of Belgrade and a transnational partnership involving the education ministries of the former Yugoslavia.
