Signing of partnership agreements with the academies of Nice and Montpellier

  • On 24 January 2017, Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial, met with Emmanuel Ethis, rector of the Nice Academy, to sign a partnership agreement whose objective is both to formalize the collaboration initiated for many years between the two institutions (memory trips to Auschwitz for high school students, teacher training...) but also now to offer educational workshops outside the walls.

  • The Montpellier Academy and the Shoah Memorial signed an agreement on 23 February 2017, continuing the partnership initiated in 2013.

Armande Le Pellec Muller, rector of the Occitanie academic region, rector of the Montpellier academy, chancellor of the universities and Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial, signed on Thursday, February 23, 2017 a partnership agreement aimed at promoting the deployment of educational, memorial and cultural projects for teachers and students. Students from Arthur Rimbaud Middle School presented the work carried out on the history of the Shoah as part of a civic reflection on the humanist values that underpin our society.

The Montpellier Academy implements actions to raise awareness among teachers and supervisory bodies about issues of citizenship, secularism, and remembrance. In its educational missions, it must find answers adapted to the question of the success of all students, and in particular those for whom public education represents the privileged means of access to the culture of our society.

The Montpellier Academy also ensures that teachers and various actors responsible for training have the most relevant resources to enable the teaching of the history of the Shoah and contemporary genocides, in order to ensure the proper place that the memory and history of these events should take in educational programs.

The agreement signed on 23 February aims to establish a framework for collaboration between the Montpellier Academy and the Shoah Memorial.
