Visit of Astrid Wallmann, President of the Hessian Landtag to the Shoah Memorial

This Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the Shoah Memorial marked an important stage in its institutional programming by welcoming Mrs. Astrid Wallmann, president of the Landtag of Hesse. This visit highlights the ongoing commitment of German political representatives to the memorial work carried out by the Parisian institution.

She was received by Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial, who personally guided the president through the different spaces.

The visit began with a moment of solemn recollection before the Wall of Names, where are engraved the names of thousands of deportees from France. This memorial journey continued in the intimacy of the crypt, before stopping at the Children’s Memorial, a space dedicated to the memory of the youngest victims of the deportation.

Beyond the tribute, this meeting allowed Jacques Fredj to present the richness of the permanent exhibition. The latter offers an essential historical perspective, making it possible to understand the mechanisms of the Shoah through archive documents and poignant testimonies.
