They are three sisters: Madeleine, known as Milou, Denise and Simone. They live a happy childhood in Nice before the Second World War breaks their happiness. Denise joins the Resistance and will be deported to Ravensbrück. Simone, Milou and Yvonne, their mother, are arrested and deported to Auschwitz. Yvonne dies in Bergen-Belsen. Milou returns exhausted and ill. Simone resists everything. Of their father, Andrew, and their brother John, they hope for news. They will not return. Based on unpublished correspondence and family diaries, the film recounts the tragic fate of the Jacob sisters, the intimate experience of the hell of the camps and life after.
