Signing of a new agreement with the Versailles academy
On February 12, 2019, Charline Avenel, rector of the Versailles Academy met with Jacques Fredj, director of the Shoah Memorial, for the signing of a new partnership agreement between the Memorial and the academy, which includes the training of students and teachers as well as the training of managers, a novelty.
The meeting began with a guided tour of the Shoah Memorial by Jacques Fredj in the presence of many executives and teachers from the academy who had made the trip. The group passed through the forecourt and in front of the Wall of Names before joining the crypt and the Jewish file and finally the permanent exhibition. The new agreement was signed in the E. J. Safra auditorium of the Memorial, after listening to the speeches by Jacques Fredj and Charline Avenel, recalling the need for this partnership and joint actions at a time when the figures on the increase in anti-Semitic acts announced by the government are alarming.

“As luck would have it, we are signing this agreement with the Versailles Academy on the very day that the Prime Minister delivers catastrophic figures about anti-Semitism in France. Teaching about the Shoah must make it possible to arm oneself against the resurgence of hatred.” Jacques Fredj

“Our educational community can be proud of the dignified fight that a certain number of citizens are fighting to defend the values of the Republic. With the Memorial, we can count on this foundation without which there is no education.” Charline Avenel
