Inauguration of the renovated Wall of Names

Inaugurated on 27 January 2005 by President Jacques Chirac and Simone Veil, the Wall of Names includes the names of 75,568 Jews deported from France, including 11,400 children. Since 2005, the documentation centre has collected changes and misspellings from families or new archive sources.

On the day after Yom Hashoah, 3 May 2019, the Wall of Names was closed to the public in order to be completely renovated. 6,200 corrections were made (corrections, additions, corrections), 379 names removed and 226 names added.

After nine months of construction, the Wall of Names was again made accessible to the public on 27 January 2020, after its inauguration by President Emmanuel Macron.
