Based on the images of the eponymous film, Vienna before night follows the story of Wolf Leib Fränkel, great-grandfather of the author, who settles in this city upon his return from Ellis Island and dies there in 1929 before "the Nazi night" falls on Europe. For the author, the life of Wolf Leïb Fränkel and that of the great writers who frequented the famous Viennese cafes are inseparable.
