The pediment

The facade of the building, clad in stone, forms a blind wall 14 meters high. It gives to read two engraved inscriptions:

In Hebrew: "Remember what the Amalek of our generation did to you, who exterminated 600 thousand bodies and souls without there having been a war."

In French: Before the Unknown Jewish Martyr inclines your respect your piety for all martyrs, walks in thought with them along their painful path, it will lead you to the highest summit of justice and truth.”

PRACTICAL: The pediment is visible during the opening hours of the Memorial but also from outside.
