The pediment

The facade of the building, covered with stone, forms a blind wall 14 metres high. It gives to read two engraved inscriptions:

In Hebrew: "Remember what the Amalek of our generation did to you, who exterminated 600 myriad bodies and souls, without war."
(Hebrew text of the great Jewish poet Zalman Schneour, adapted from Deuteronomy 25,17.)

In French: » Before the Unknown Jewish martyr incline your respect for all martyrs, walk in thought with them along their painful path, it will lead you to the highest summit of justice and truth.
Justin Godard, Former Minister, Honorary Chair of the Committee on the Unknown Jewish Martyr.

PRACTICAL: The pediment is visible during the opening hours of the Memorial but also from outside.
