The pediment

The facade of the building, covered in stone, forms a blind wall 14 meters high. It gives one to read two engraved inscriptions:

Hebrew: «Remember what the Amalek of our Generation did to you, who exterminated 600 million bodies and souls, without war.»
(Hebrew text by the great Jewish poet Zalman Schneour, adapted from Deuteronomy 25:17.)

In French: » Before the Unknown Jewish Martyr, incline your respect, your piety for all the martyrs, walk in thought with them along their painful path, she will lead you to the highest summit of justice and truth.
Justin Godard, Former Minister, Honorary President of the Committee of the Unknown Jewish Martyr.

PRACTICAL: The pediment is visible during the opening hours of the Memorial but also from outside.
